JANET NAGOTKO earned her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law. Prior to her legal studies, Ms. Nagotko earned a B.A. in accounting from Queens College, City University of New York and became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

As a law student, Ms. Nagotko interned at the Center for Social Justice, Seton Hall University School of Law serving the community of Newark; the State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Protection; and the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Newark, New Jersey. Ms. Nagotko was recruited by the law firm McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, where she worked as a Summer Associate and received a full-time offer of employment upon graduation. Ms. Nagotko deferred her offer for one year to serve as a Law Clerk to Honorable John C. Kennedy in Essex County, New Jersey. She then worked at McElroy, Deutsche, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, for thirteen years where her practice was exclusively dedicated to representing property & casualty, life, health, annuity, and disability insurance companies through all phases of insurance defense litigation.
Ms. Nagotko is admitted to the bars of the State of New Jersey, the State of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Nagotko’s financial services expertise was honed within top tier accounting and advisory firms. Ms. Nagotko was a Senior Manager in the audit division of Deloitte. (formerly Deloitte & Touche, LLP) in New York serving the firm’s clientele in the financial services industry including fortune 500 accounts. Ms. Nagotko was fast-tracked to Senior-Manager in an unprecedented three and one-half years. While at Deloitte, she received a special commendation award form a major Japanese client for excellence in service. She also won an engagement proposal competing against the other international accounting firms for the audit of a major national banking client in Chicago. Ms. Nagotko was selected as one of only a handful of National Instructors for new recruits at Deloitte. After Deloitte. and prior to attending law school, Ms. Nagotko worked for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting).

Ms. Nagotko’s volunteer activities include service as the Treasurer of the Junior League of Bergen County and Girl Scout Troop Leader in Bergen County for many years. Ms. Nagotko was honored by the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice as Volunteer Lawyer of the Month in December 2019 in recognition of her outstanding contribution and dedication to the Newark community while serving over 50 clients within a two-year period.

Ms. Nagotko joined the law firm of Callinan & Smith, LLP in February 2023, as a Senior Associate. Her practice concentrates primarily in Insurance Defense Litigation.
