Craig J. Bruno is of counsel to Callinan & Smith LLP and is the mentor of Michael A. Callinan and Matthew J. Smith. Through his prior firm, Bruno, Gerbino & Soriano, LLP, Craig was present at the inception of investigating fraudulent and suspect insurance fraud claims. He previously served as litigation and advisory counsel for several national corporations and has extensive experience in litigating and defending matters for insurance companies and self-insured entities including bad faith and extra-contractual claims. Mr. Bruno’s practice concentrates on the handling of Special Investigative Unit (SIU) claims involving suspect homeowner/property damage claims, exaggerated personal injury claims, and bodily injury actions concerning potentially fraudulent activity. In fact, Mr. Bruno was instrumental in creating and helping implement many of the insurance fraud plans that are now utilized in the insurance industry. Mr. Bruno’s services have been sought in evaluating SIU protocols, and has been featured as a guest lecturer on numerous occasions. Mr. Bruno has given a variety of seminars in New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida for claims professionals on numerous topics. He also served and provided valuable guidance on an industrywide committee that helped draft revisions to the No-Fault Regulation. More recently, Craig has given back to the community and has spent the past four years as an active part of the Veterans’ and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic at the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. While at the Clinic, Craig has assisted those among us who have sacrificed for our Country to ensure that all veterans and servicemembers receive adequate legal representation. Craig Bruno was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1982 and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1983. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1981 and his Bachelor of Arts Degree was conferred upon him, Magna Cum Laude, by Hofstra University in 1978. He is VA Accredited, and a member of various Veteran organizations.
